My last day of uni was today, handed in everything and all set to to go home to Glasgow in the snow. Here my finished work for my Design for Function class. As a group we had to select a sport to base a collection on, we choose fencing.
Entire collection I.m wearing my garment on the far right.
At the moment we are designing an online magazine, and our group has decided to do a feature on extreme make-up. Here's just a few images I'm using for inspiration, and I'm so excited to attempt a few of these ideas.
So I did my photo-shoot in Flat 0/1 over the weekend and here are the best shots. The owner of the bar, Chris was pretty decent and put some music on for us and we pretty much had free range to go and do what we wanted. I thought the flat was great to take photos in, my favorite touches were the swinging seats made from a cut in half bathtub, the moustache stuck on the mirror in the toilets and the tropical bird wallpaper.
In our visual presentation class we have to create an online magazine in groups. Ours is based on up-and-coming artists, music, fashions and locations in Glasgow. I have chosen the club flat 1 on Bath Street for it's uniqueness.
'most of us have got mates who live in 'the party flat'...the place where you go to tear it up, to take your carry out, pre-party/ post-party and just party full stop. the flat that is always full of booze, always has the decks set up and ready to go and whose neighbours don't complain about the noise...'
So basically it's a full time empty, I always enjoy flat parties more to going out so can't wait to go and write about it. There even letting me come in during the morning to take some photos, I was planning on getting a few friends to come with me and recreate a night out. If all goes well it will look similar to the new T4 advert which i'm using as inspiration.
Sorry about the lack of posting, I've been away on holiday which was a disaster and busy moving into my new flat for my second year at uni. To be fair I did have a great time in Mallorca, but during our second week there our room was broken into. I lost pretty much everything; camera, phone, ipod, money and my passport! I was so stressed I wouldn't get home, but I managed to go to the British Embassy and get an emergency one. On the plus side I bought an iphone to replace my phone and ipod which I love, and hopefully the insurance company will be good to me. Anyway moving on from that I'm loving my new flat which I'm still in the process of decorating, and we've been given quite a few tasks for our new class this semester.
There's a class called pattern experimentation where we have to construct a garment out of only triangular shaped pieces of fabric. However you can pleat and fold them anyway you want.
This is the kind of shape I wanted, it's only pinned onto the mannequin at the moment, I'm going to die the fabric before I start sewing. >
